A time in human history when some people were born to parents belonging to two different human species
Updated: Aug 22
Long time ago, Homo sapiens interbred with archaic human groups like Neanderthals and Denisovans as they migrated to different parts of the world. Most people outside Africa carry 1–4% Neanderthal DNA, while some Asian and Oceanian populations have up to 4–6% Denisovan ancestry, shaping human immunity and adaptation.
For a while, it was believed that modern humans completely replaced other human groups, possibly through widespread violence or conflict. However, later evidence showed that these groups actually coexisted and interbred. This means that, at certain points in prehistory, some humans were born to parents belonging to two different human groups or species.
In the photo below, you are looking at "Denny." She lived about 90,000 years ago and was a first generatiın hybrid. The DNA from her bone fragment shows that her mother was a Neanderthal and her father was a Denisovan, showing the first direct proof of mating between two distinct human species. Denny was only 13 years old when she passed away but the information her DNA contained became ageless with the discovery of her body.

I really like it
